Gait Analysis

"Gait" is a person's walking pattern. A gait analysis is performed to evaluate any abnormalities in a person's gait cycle, and correction is made where possible. Runner's are often offered a gait analysis when trying new running shoes to assure they are purchasing the correct pair that is not going to alter their gait in a manner that will cause alignments issues and/or joint related issues down the line.

How Does It Work?

A gait analysis can be performed by simply observing the way a person walks towards you, away from you and from the side. Here at JHJ Sports Therapy, we offer a video gait analysis, which involves walking or running on a treadmill for a few minutes whilst a recording is made from your waist down. This footage is then slowed down and the biomechanics are analysed in detail, any findings will then be explained.
