Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound therapy is used to detect and treat various musculoskeletal injuries including acute and chronic pain, soft tissue damage and muscle spasms. It helps to promote the healing process following an injury by increasing the blood flow to the localised area, heating and relaxing the muscles, and help the break down of scar tissue.

How Does It Work?

It is a small handheld device which is placed on the problematic area typically used with gel in order for the treatment to work effectively. Ultrasound uses frequency waves which travel through the skin and into the body causing the underlying affected tissue to vibrate. Ultrasound usually lasts between 5-10 minutes depending on the area and injury history, and no pain is felt at all during the treatment.
