TENS Therapy

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a method of pain relief involving the use of a mild electrical current to or near the nerves. This is a battery powered device that delivers electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the surface on your skin. When the machine is turned on, you will experience a pain free tingling sensation in the area where the electrodes are placed.

How Does It Work?

The electrical current from the TENS machine stimulates the nerve cells that block the transmission of pain signals to your brain and spinal cord, modifying your perception of pain. It may also stimulate the production of endorphins, which are the body's natural painkillers.
